I wanted to bake something that would go well with my coffee, and this Coffee Walnut Tea Cake came to mind. I had some walnuts in the kitchen, so I toasted them first and decided to add coffee to the cake as well.
The cake has a soft, buttery crumb with a noticeable coffee flavor and little bits of toasted walnut throughout. I also like the extra walnuts at the base because they add a slightly nutty finish to each slice.
I sliced it once it had cooled and served it with a fresh cup of coffee. If you enjoy nutty bakes, Maple Walnut Cookies and Almond Biscotti are two more recipes to try.
