Sometimes I just want a slice of cake without having to make a big dessert out of it. That was the idea behind this vanilla pound cake. I wanted something buttery, simple, and easy to keep on the counter for whenever I felt like having a slice.
The batter comes together with basic ingredients, but the butter and vanilla make the kitchen smell so good while it bakes. Once cooled, the cake has a soft, tender crumb with a rich buttery flavor and plenty of vanilla.
I like serving a slice with coffee or having it as a quick afternoon sweet. If you enjoy simple homemade bakes, Marble Cake and Chocolate Coffee Cake are two more recipes to try.
